BACKGROUND: Born in rural Georgia, there was one sure-bet way to get out of the south and on to something a little more interesting: The military. And even if there had been college or just picking up and moving to another city, finances just hadn't provided the means as easily for Nathaniel McClintock as it had others. When he was the right age and he had everything in order, Nathaniel shipped out, leaving that small town he grew up in for, hopefully, brighter horizons. Even if getting there was going to be some sort of Hell between training and those random bumps which came with it.

It was during basic training when he and his squad had ended up the target of a werewolf that had made its way into the forests nearby, scaling the fence to get to the source of fresh meat and blood it could smell. While a few servicemen hadn't made it out, his reaction and attempts to actually save them -- even if they were more than likely just going to change from their wounds anyway -- had garnered him the attention of the higher ranking officers, keeping an eye on him through basic training and the war which came after in the early 2000s. It was only after he returned from two tours that he was transferred somewhere else; To a new program the military had in mind to combat the problematic west coast which had been overrun with the supernatural over the years, starting in California and spreading up to Seattle which has been the worse yet.

Twenty by the time the war hit Seattle, Nate was sent to the front lines with a number of other soldiers from various factions -- the United States Armed Forces and various private organizations with a hand in the supernatural market -- for two years, witnessing first hand the horrors the city and its inhabitants were capable of. From witches to wolves, vampires to demons, Nathaniel wasn't all that impressed. Wasn't all that thrilled either, his squad perhaps one of the more ruthless against those supernatural beings which crossed their path. It wouldn't do much in the long run, may have cleared out some areas where humans could eventually reside, but the military was eventually given the order to pull back and Nate himself returned to Georgia to spend time with friends and family, taking on a recruitment position until something else -- something far more interesting -- came along, that something sending him right back to Seattle.
